The Western Digital Ultrastar Data60 SE4U60 Gen3 is a high-density enterprise hybrid storage platform designed for large-scale, software-defined storage deployments. Unlike controller-based storage arrays, the Data60 operates as a JBOD expansion enclosure, relying on external servers or RAID/HBA controllers for storage management. Supports up to 60 x 3.5" SAS or SATA HDDs, with up to 24 bays configurable as SAS or SATA SSDs to create a dedicated data acceleration tier. Multiple units may be daisy-chained for expanded raw capacity.
